Bouquet Garni (“bouquet of aromatic herbs”)
This is a guideline to making a bouquet garni, but by no means is it a strict recipe.
The idea is to bundle any number of aromatic herbs together with a cloth or string, and then place in soups, stocks, and stews to infuse them with flavor. The bouquet is removed from the pot before eating. Try a variety of combinations beyond what’s listed here and see which herbs you like best.
- 1 bay leaf
- 1 sprig fresh rosemary
- 1 sprig fresh parsley
- 1 sprig fresh thyme
- 1 sprig fresh tarragon
- 4″ cheese cloth square or string
Add ingredients together in a cheese cloth or tie at end with a string.
Place the bouquet in soup or stock and remove before eating.
