Here Comes the Sun (May)

  • Where should we be?
    • Planting of Summer edibles and annuals
      •  Pumpkins, squash, peppers, herbs, melons
      • Sunflowers, petunias, marigolds, begonias, zinnia
    • Garden-ready show-offs
      • Dahlias, hydrangeas, perennials (salvias, lavenders, etc) and hanging baskets
      • Start new or freshen up old containers (thrill/fill/spill + sloat potting soil)
    • Clean-up
      • Right tools for the right job (hand tools, gloves, hats)
      • Stake tall perennials (dahlias, gladiolas, sunflowers)
      • Deadhead spring bulbs – leave foliage
      • Prune spring flowering shrubs – after bloom to control size & shape
      • Beneficial nematodes to manage grubs, ladybugs to help control aphids/mites
      • Mulch beds w/ forest mulch + to control weeds & moisture
  • Feed me:
    •  Indoor – maxsea acid or tappin roots all stages
    • Rhodis, azaleas & camellias – eb stone acid
    • Veggies – eb stone tomato/veg food
