Seed Starting Activity

Now is the time to start planning your garden. Kids, this is your chance to pick out the flowers and plants you want to grow. By starting seeds now, you will have plants that you can move into containers or the ground by spring!

What you’ll need:

• Paper tolls
• Plastic/metal tray to place them on
• Seed starter planting mix
• Assorted seed packs

Make sure to read the instructions on the seed pack.

1. Plant your seeds.
2. Place the tray in a bright and warm location.
3. Make sure the soil stays moist.
4. Measure the growth from week to week. What seeds sprout first? How long did it take?
5. Transplant your sprouts to their new home, once they are approx. 4-5” tall (the paper roll can stay around the plant and be planted. It will decompose into the soil).
