Weather alert for Bay Area gardeners! Freezing temperatures are expected this evening. Here are a few things you can do to protect your plants:
1. Water plants today, especially container plants, to reduce damage from the cold.
2. Use mulch to help insulate soil from temperature extremes.
3. Spray plants with Wilt Pruf to add 2 to 3 degrees of extra protection against frost.
4. Wrap susceptible plants with burlap, Harvest Guard or Insulate. You can also use old bed sheets and newspaper…just don’t use plastic.
