At our Mill Valley, East Blithedale location, store manager Molly Congdon salvaged a crate leftover from a shipment of our holiday wreaths and thought it would be perfect to plant a garden in. We lined it with burlap and then filled it with twenty-four, 2 cubic foot bags. We used a combination of Sloat Organic Potting Soil, Forest Mulch Plus, earthworm castings, E.B. Stone Planting Compost, and E.B. Stone Sure Start fertilizer. The finished, planted “Eco-system” garden was designed by Jen Strobel of the Sloat Design Department. We only used plants that attract beneficial insects to the garden. A list of plants that attract beneficials can be found at our locations. We hope you’ll consider planting some of them to help your garden — they’re pretty, too!
