Mama hummingbird built her nest in a rose tree at our Martinez store.
She used spider silk, moss, and lichen to build the nest.
2 weeks later the baby hummingbirds hatched and are now big enough to poke their heads over the side of the nest!
April 12th: Hummingbird report from Martinez! We sneaked over to the nest while mama hummingbird wasn’t looking and took this photo of the growing babies. They’re getting bigger! Luckily hummingbird nests, being made mostly of spider silk, expand as the babies grow.
April 19: They’re getting bigger and will leave the nest very soon.
