It’s starting to feel like spring! Now is an ideal time to begin thinking about your vegetable garden. Carrots, beets and lettuces can be planted now, and you can even start tomatoes this month, but with one caveat: they need a bit of protection.
March is still a bit cool, so tender, new tomato plants should be protected with Harvest Guard blankets, N-Sulate Frost Protection Blankets, and Dalen Plant Insulators. Tomato cages can also be wrapped with burlap or frost blankets, and roots kept warm with mulch. Also, remember to water early in the morning to prevent wet foliage at night. See you in the garden!
