Basil needs well-drained soil, plenty of sun, and regular water (but beware of over watering). Basil can be planted in the ground or in a container…it will also do well planted indoors on a sunny window ledge. Feed with E.B. Stone Fish Emulsion if it starts to pale (liquid fertilizers are gentler on basil). Remove any flowers that form to prevent seed set, which will inhibit leafy growth. The flowers are edible and can be added to salads or cooked dishes.
