
Oh, the joy of summer berries. Eating sweet, juicy strawberries, blueberries or raspberries from your garden on a warm summer day is quite sublime. Blueberries and raspberries will grow well planted in the backyard or in a wine barrel.
For strawberries, you only need a small container to grow plentiful fruit.
Back in the kitchen, berries can be used in baked desserts, fresh with cream, eaten out of hand, dried, or made into jams or preserves. Below are recipe ideas and growing tips. Enjoy!

Growing Tips
Blueberries need acidic, well-drained soils. They thrive in full to part sun but their roots like to stay moist and cool.
A mulch, such as redwood compost or Microbark will help keep shallow roots moist and control weeds. If your soil is not acidic enough (Blueberries do best with a pH of 4.5-5.5)... more
